Football Friendlies – Match Day & Game Rules
1. Before You Arrive
- Full match details, including team allocation and kit colour, will be shared via our WhatsApp groups.
- Please ensure you check messages prior to attending.
- Teams and colours (or bibs) are assigned by the game organiser.
2. Arrival
- Arrive at least 10–15 minutes before kick-off where possible.
- Look out for a group of players near the pitch(es) or ask if they playing in Football Friendlies.
- Use the time before kick-off to warm up and stretch.
3. Kit & Equipment
- Wear the assigned team colour where possible.
- If you don’t have the exact colour, wear the closest alternative.
- Bibs may be provided where required.
- Goalkeeper gloves may be available for shared use.
4. Match Format
- Games are small-sided and informal.
- No referee is used – games rely on honesty and fair play.
- If you commit a foul, acknowledge it and return possession to the opposing team.
5. Core Rules
- No slide tackling under any circumstances.
- No offsides.
- Kick-ins replace throw-ins.
- Play restarts from the goalkeeper after a goal (no centre restart).
- Players may move freely unless a specific venue rule states otherwise.
6. Goalkeeping
- If no dedicated goalkeeper is assigned, players should rotate regularly (approximately every 5–7 minutes).
- Both teams should rotate goalkeepers at similar intervals to keep the game flowing.
7. Ball Responsibility
- If the ball leaves the pitch, it is the responsibility of the player who kicked it to retrieve it immediately, refusal may result in being barred from future sessions.
- Delays in retrieving balls can disrupt or end games, particularly at certain venues.
8. Sportsmanship & Conduct
- Respect all players regardless of ability.
- Avoid negative behaviour, arguments, or criticism of others.
- These sessions are designed to be inclusive, friendly, and enjoyable for everyone.
9. Game Balance
- If a match becomes heavily one-sided, teams may be adjusted during the session to maintain a competitive and enjoyable game.
10. End of Game
- Show respect to all players at full-time (e.g. handshakes).
- Return all equipment including balls, bibs, and gloves.
11. Attendance & Cancellations
- If you can no longer attend, notify the WhatsApp group as soon as possible.
- Players should cancel or re-arrange their session online to receive game credit for a future game within 5 hours of the game.
- Late cancellations (within 5 Hours) or no-shows may not be eligible for credit or refund.
- Game “Credit” can only be used against future games, there is no monetary or cash-out value.
